Signing a bad contract can kill your music career

So often we only see the good side of the music industry: money, perks, parties, glamour, and more.

In reality, the opposite is more common.

Artists are often trapped in their record deals and stripped of their publishing rights, yet still contractually obligated to make hit records or pay for production expenses.

It happens all the time, sometimes even to your favorite artists. (Remember the “Free Weezy” days?) Sometimes it happens to artists you don’t know about because their situations are so bad that their music doesn’t get played or heard at all.

For more on this subject, we encourage you to watch the following video from BET that talks about what happens to your career  as an artist when you sign a bad contract.

While the subject is fascinating, it’s an unfortunate reality that no one should have to deal with.

If you are an artist and fear signing a bad contract, we encourage you to sign up for the Official Music Bible today! Our team’s years of industry knowledge will ensure that you are paired with solid legal representation, are able to spot the signs of a bad contract, and teach you how to thrive with or without a record deal.
